Florence- Catherine M. Baith, 95, of Florence, Wis., passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Florence Health Services, Florence, Wis.
She was born October 10, 1925, in Portage, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Golden) Bednarski. Catherine worked many of her younger years in a candy factory that made Slo Poke suckers. She met Leo Baith in Pennsylvania, and they married on July 23, 1946, in Chicago, Ill. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2010. They moved to Chicago, Ill., where they raised their four children. They eventually moved north to be near her mother, Mary Bednarski-Shedlock and step-father, John Shedlock, and her brother Frank Bednarski. The Baith family moved to a farm in Florence, Wis., in 1954. After 16 years of dairy farming, switched to beef cattle and raised their own vegetables throughout the years.
Catherine loved to square dance, which they did for a few years, as well as playing cards with friends, family, and neighbors. In her later years, she loved to go to the Florence Center and visit with her friends.
Survivors include two sons, Louis (Sue) Baith, Germantown, Wis., and David (Theresa) Baith, Florence, Wis.; two daughters, Marian (Arland) Klimek, Green Bay, Wis., and Celeste Baith, Florence, Wis.; three grandchildren, Sara (Jim) Medinger, Kristin (Justin) Latham, and Luke(Catherine) Baith; and four great-grandchildren, Delaney, Brayden, Declan, and Kellan.
In addition to her parents and husband, Leo, Catherine was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Joseph Bednarski; one sister, Veronica Rybak; and one grandson, Adam David Baith.
A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence, Wis. Rev. Fr. Albert Balderas will officiate.
