Amasa – Carrie Lynn Steiro, 55, of Amasa, Mich., passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, with family by her side at Aspirus Hospital in Iron River.
She was born on July 28, 1970, in Pensacola, FL, to Judy (Strolberg) Nyholm and the late Iver Nyholm.
She graduated from Forest Park High School, class of 1989. She enjoyed many clubs in high school, such as Trojan Voice, Vocal Ensemble, drama, and band. She played volleyball, basketball, and bowling. During her teen years, she was a part of Job's Daughters.
Carrie attended college at St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN, until her late father became terminally ill in 1990. She began employment at the Crystal Manor, and then spent many years caring for her children and babysitting. She continued in home health for DISCA, and worked at the Horseshoe Bar in Amasa.
Her many hobbies were fishing, deer hunting, skiing in Colorado and Montana, and visiting many places with her husband such as seeing the California Redwoods, New Mexico, Graceland, and Idaho. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, being at camp on Net River, and her dogs, Molly, Sundance, Lucky, and Sunny.
She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and going on family trips and vacations.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Steiro; mother, Judith Nyholm; daughter, Michaela Steiro; son, Casey Steiro; grandchildren, Liam, Casher, and Serenity; and sister, Juline Brown.
In addition to her father, Iver Nyholm; she was preceded in death by her uncle and aunt, "Sunny" and JoAnn Nyholm; grandmother, Julia Nyholm; and grandfather, Rudolph Nyholm.
A special thanks to all who helped Carrie through the hard times, the supportive prayers, thoughts, and concerns.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls, Mich. A Celebration of Carrie's Life will be held at 3:30 p.m., at the funeral home with Pastor Vicky Prewitt officiating.
