Obituary

Caroline M. Constantini, of Merriman, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2010, at her daughter's house in Florence, Wis., where she has happily resided since June 2008. She was born on January 2, 1913, in Merriman, the youngest child of the late John and Maria (Latchney) Kerkes. She married John Constantini, Sr. on August 1, 1931, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1991. Caroline was a lifelong member of the Merriman's Woman's Club. She also attended a bible study group with her dear friends Kathy, Mary, Ann, Gwen, Sharon, Jean, and Maria. Caroline was a kind and humble person who enjoyed life's simple pleasures, especially being with her family, working in the garden, and feeding the birds. She will be deeply missed by many. She is survived by three daughters, Elaine (Richard) Meinecke, Florence, Carol (Greg) Jeske, Menominee, Mich., and Marie (William) Gilbreath, Danville, Ill.; five sons, John C. (Sharon) Constantini, Moon Lake, Donald Constantini, Merriman, Richard (Patricia) Constantini, Merriman, Douglas (Dana) Constantini, Spring Lake, and Robert (Susan) Constantini, Merriman. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Debra (Ronald) Anderson, Florence, Carrie (Chris) Champion, Kingsford, Daniel (Cathi) Meinecke, Deerfield, Wis., Ali Jeske, Laguna Hills, Calif., Steve Gilbreath, Westville, Ill., David Gilbreath, New Port Richey, Fla., Kim (Bill) Nagy III, Iron Mountain, Michael Constantini, West Jordan, Utah, Rodney Constantini, Menominee, Rhonda (John) Barkle, Iron Mountain, Rick (Michelle) Constantini, Florence, Mark (Trish) Constantini, Merriman, and Christine (Don) Tramontin, Kingsford. Caroline is further survived by twenty-seven great-grandchildren, Conrad Kolberg, Halsey Sleeter, Lauren Champion, Lucas and Lacy Setner, Colton and Ethan Meinecke, Jonathan Gilbreath, Stacy, Megan and April Gilbreath, Ian and Billy Nagy IV, Shawn, Somer, Ashley and Nicholas Constantini, Kaitlyn, Kyle and Samantha Constantini, Adam and Brandon Barkle, Victoria, Virginia and Alexandra Constantini, Anthony Sullivan and Emily Tramontin. Caroline also has fourteen great-great-grandchildren, Tatym Coe, Truth Setner-Hagler, Ellie and Braden Kolberg, Morgan, Monte, Julien and Cami Grace Sleeter, Jackson Gilbreath, Taylor and Kieran Gilbreath, Zachery Campbell, Tyler Constantini and Elijah Carriveau. In addition to her husband, Caroline was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers, Anne Olexa, Mary Hamilton, Catherine Wickman, Carolina Kerkes, John, Charles and Frank Kerkes. Visitation for Caroline will be held on Thursday morning, August 19, from 9:00 to 10:30 at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A prayer service will be held at 10:30 at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Msgr. James Kaczmarek officiating. Caroline's seven grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in Breitung Township Cemetery in Quinnesec. You may light a candle in remembrance of Caroline or leave a condolence for her family online at www.JacobsFuneralHomes.com.
