Florence: Carol Winefred Nichols, age 101, of Fence, Wisconsin, went to be with the Lord on Friday July 14, 2006, with her children present, at the Florence Villa Nursing Home in Florence, Wis. She was born on December 25, 1904 in Fern, Wis., daughter of the late Fred and Florence Hanmer. Carol married Benedict Nichols on June 24, 1925, in Iron River, Mich. He preceded her in death in 1981. Carol is survived by two sons, Dale (Helen) Nichols, and Gordon Nichols both of Fence, Wis.; two daughters, Lorraine Dunkel of Florence, Wis., Deanna (Jack) Rohde of Las Vegas, Nevada; twenty-five grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, eighteen great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Benedict and her parents, Carol was preceded by, four sons, Roger, William, Duane and Douglas Nichols; two sisters, Ethel McLain and Ellen Buchanan; and four brothers, Ray, Fred, Eugene and Edwin Hanmer. Visitation will be Friday July 21, 2006, from 10:15 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kosta Catholic Church in Armstrong Creek, Wis. The funeral mass will be Friday 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kosta Catholic Church. Fr. David Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Fence Cemetery in Fence, Wis.
