Carol L Ernst, 84, of Niagara, Wisc., passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Maryhill Manor Nursing Home, Niagara, Wisc. She was born on September 26, 1937 in Iron Mountain, Mich. Carol grew up in Dunbar, Wisc., and graduated from Pembine High School, class of 1955. She married Clayton "Bud" Ernst and he preceded her in death. Carol received her registered nursing degree and after a few years entered into the U S Air Force as a First Lieutenant where she continued as a registered nurse. She was later transferred to the Oscar G Johnson Veterans Hospital, Iron Mountain, Mich., where she continued as a nurse and later retired. Carol enjoyed the outdoors, living in the country, gardening, and playing piano. She is survived by her son, Paul Ernst of Ariz.; three brothers, Daniel Gehling of Niagara, Wisc., and Montana, William (Lucille) Gehling of Soap Lake, Wash., and Lynn (Jill) Gehling of Golden Valley, Ariz. In addition to her parents and husband "Bud", Carol was preceded by three brothers, Robert, Richard, and Joseph Gehling.
