Obituary

Iron Mountain: Carmella(Pietrantonio) Lerza, age 92, formerly of 306 Norway St., died Sunday, May 1, 2005, at Freeman Nursing Center in Kingsford. She was born July 22, 1912, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Nicolas and Rosaline (Santini) Pietrantonio. Carmella was a lifelong resident of the area. She married Alfred Lerza on May 22, 1931, at the Immaculate Conception Church, and they were married for sixty-five years. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1996. Carmella had been an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and belonged to the Ladies Guild, Christian Mothers, and was a former member of the Daughters of Isabella which she belonged to for over fifty years. She loved playing cards & bingo. She was also a life member of the Piasano Club. Survivors include a daughter Nathaline Meyers of Iron Mountain, two grandsons David Meyers of Gladstone and John (Laurie) of Troy, MI, three grand children; Samantha Meyers, Jake Meyers and Erica Meyers, a sister Mildred DeCarlo of Springboro, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Alfred, she was preceded in death by a grandson Paul Meyers, her son-in-law Richard Meyers, three brothers Mario, Frank, and Anthony Pietrantonio, and a sister Jennie Cerasoli, and two sisters-in-law Ann (John) Sherman and Vivian Pietrantonio and brother-in-law Peter DeCarlo all of Iron Mountain. Visitation will be Thursday, May 5, from 9-10a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain, with a prayer service to be held at 10:00a.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:30a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Father Ray Valerio will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park.
