Carl "Herb" West, 84, of Niagara, Wis., passed away in Ruskin, Fla., on February 25, 2010.
He graduated from Niagara High School, Class of 1943, and joined the United States Navy where he was stationed in the South Pacific as a parachute rigger.
Carl volunteered at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain for many years and was a life member of the American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post No. 136. He worked at the paper mill and retired in 1985. Carl's hobbies were woodworking and crafts.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anne, of 62 years, and a few nephews and nieces.
Carl will be greatly missed and warmly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 18, 2010, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Rev. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery. The American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post No. 136, Niagara will accord military honors at the church following the mass and at graveside.
