Obituary

Bonnie Jean Caron, 75, lifelong resident of Watersmeet, died peacefully on May 15, 2012 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, Michigan, following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Howard A. Caron, Sr. for 50 years, loving mother of Corrine (Charles) Brownell, of Marquette, Mich.; Danette (Ronald) Charles, of Marenisco, Mich.; Howard (Tina) Caron of Watersmeet; and Harry (Kelly) Caron of Watersmeet; dear grandma of Matthew (Stacy) Brownell, Bradley (Heather) Brownell, Danielle Brownell, Cassandra Vugrinec, Michelle Vugrinec, DeAnna Charles, Megan Caron, Mathilda Caron, Howard Caron, IV, Thomas Caron, Amanda Caron, Rebecca Caron, Forrest Caron, and Sawyer Caron; fond great-grandmother of seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Mott of Racine, Wis., and one brother, retired Captain Daniel (Barbara) Wright of Woodby Island, Wash. She is also survived by, and will be dearly missed by, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and other family and friends. Bonnie was born to Harry and Genevieve (Codd) Wright, July 3, 1936 at Grand View Hospital, Bessemer, Mich. She attended and graduated from Watersmeet Township High School in 1954. On October 30, 1955 in Waukegan, Ill., she married Howard A. Caron, son of Albert and Mathilda (Hill) Caron. The couple made their home in Watersmeet. Besides being a wonderful homemaker for her family, Bonnie worked for a period of time at the Gateway Inn, where among her favorite patrons was Milton Eisenhower, brother of President Eisenhower. She also worked for Coleman Engineering in Iron River before leaving there for employment as Watersmeet Schools first head cook in its food service program from 1980 to 1994. Thereafter, she worked for the Lac Vieux Desert Head Start Program as its Bus Driver before retiring in 2002. Until its closing, Bonnie was a member of Union Congregational Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post 417, Royal Neighbors, and former Cub Scout Den Mother. Bonnie enjoyed arts and crafts and was an excellent cook. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 2005; father Harry in 1970; mother Genevieve in 1992; grandson, Thomas Victor Howard Vugrinec in 2004; infant brother Benjamin Codd Wright in 1946; brother Harry (Murph) Wright in 2010; sister-in-law Edith Peterson Wright in 1998; brother-in-law, Orland Mott in 1985; and special nephew, Michael Frahm in 2001. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at the Watersmeet Baptist Church. Rev. Skip Pullen will officiate. Bonnie will be laid to rest beside her husband and family at the Wright-Caron family burial plot in the Watersmeet Cemetery. I have fought the good fight.
