Betty J. Schintgen, 88, of Niagara, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, Mich.
She was born April 18, 1925, in Kingsford, Mich., daughter of the late Lloyd and Irene (Carefell) Martin.
Betty married William E. Schintgen they owned and operated Shanks Bar in Niagara for many years. She was an active member of St. Margaret Catholic Church in Pembine, Wis. Betty enjoyed gardening, fishing and crossword puzzles; she especially enjoyed going out dancing with her husband.
She is survived by her loving husband, William; three sons, Robert (Pat) Magray, Oneida, Wis., Raymond Magray, Old Mill Creek, Ill., William (Cindy) Magray, Green Bay, Wis.; one daughter, Betty (Terry) Moriarity, Niagara, Wis.; one step-son, Bill (Janet) Schintgen, Niagara; three step-daughters, Pat Rouse (Doug Payette), Niagara, Ann (Jim) Bumford, New Franken, Wis., Evans Schintgen, Rohnert Park, CA.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by one son, Vernon Magray; one step-son, Jim Schintgen; one sister, Frances Koller and three brothers, Leonard Martin, Raymond Martin and Robert Martin.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 26, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church, Pembine. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, 12:00 p.m. at the church. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate.
