Betty J. Russ, 75, of Norway, Mich., passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at her home. Betty was born on August 16, 1932 in Oatonna, Minn., daughter of the late William and Vera (Wobig) Wyman. She grew up in Red Wing, Minn. and graduated in 1950 from Red Wing High School. Betty went on to attend school in Rochester, Minn. where she received her Registered Nursing degree in 1953. She married Peter Russ on December 5, 1953 in Red Wing. Betty worked as a surgical nurse in California for 2 years and Memphis, Tenn. as a nurse for 4 years, before moving to the Niagara, Wisconsin area in 1966. She worked for the Niagara Public schools from 1969 until her retirement in 1989 as the school nurse. She was very active in the beginning stages of the Dickinson County Hospice Organization. Betty was a devoted caregiver all of her life, and was always there to lend a helping hand. Betty is survived by her husband, Peter, one son, James (Susan) Russ, Green Bay, Wisc.; two daughters, Katherine (Wesley) Palmer, Mequon, Wisc. and Susan (Robert) Raboin, Oshkosh, Wisc.; eight grandchildren, Melody, Jon, Cameron, Peter, Casey, Charlie, Benjamin and Mackinley. A sister in law Audrey Gilbertson, Diamond Bluff, Wisc.; and many special friends who were dear to her including, Dr. Virginia Feleppa, Debbie and Dave Padjula, Donna Pollard, Mary Ann Campbell, Beverly DesJardins. Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by one brother, William, Jr. in 1991.
