Iron Mountain – Betty A. Moddie, 88, of Quinnesec, Mich. passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019, at ManorCare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingsford, Mich.

She was born on August 5, 1930, in DePere, Wisc. daughter of the late Cornelius and Agnes (Martin) VanHogen. Betty grew up in DePere, Wisc. and graduated from DePere High School, Class of 1950. After graduation, she worked at several businesses as a bookkeeper and in the Accounts Payable Dept. She married John Moddie in September of 1971 in Green Bay. She was a member of American Martyrs Church, Kingsford. Over the years Betty enjoyed dancing, crafts, and traveling.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, John; two sons, John, Manitowoc, Wisc. and Gary (Mary), Iron Mountain, Mich.; one daughter, Betty Ann (Bob) Stewart, Norway, Mich.;

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by three sisters; Florence, Esther, and Helen

Visitation will be Friday, January 11, 2019, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Funeral Services will be held Friday, 11:00 am at the Funeral Home. Deacon Don Christy will officiate. Burial will be in Breitung Township Cemetery, Quinnesec, Mich.
