Obituary

Iron Mountain: Betty Jean Richards Christesen age 71, of 1208 Grand Blvd. Circle in Iron Mountain, died Saturday July 19, 2003 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. Betty was born on July 28, 1931 in Iron Mountain daughter of the late John and Anne (Campra) Richards. Betty grew up in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1949. She married Ronald Christesen on May 16, 1959 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Florence, Wisconsin. Betty was employed by the Iron Mountain News, Detroit Steel Corporation, Cummins Diesel Sales Corporation, Lake Shore, Inc., Dickinson County Draft Board, Dickinson County Office of Veterans Affairs and most recently Dr. James Batti's office were she retired on May 7, 1993. Betty was an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Iron Mountain. She served 10yrs as Treasurer and also on the Vestry. Betty also served as a coordinator for the funeral lunches at the church for many years. She was an active member of the Dickinson County Pilots Association serving as Secretary, member of the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Girl Scouts Council and served as Leader, Beta Sigma Nu Sorority serving as both President and Secretary, March of Dimes, Amidon Schools PTO President, Iron Mountain Booster Club member serving as Treasurer, Red Cross Blood Bank volunteer and a Veterans Hospital Volunteer. Betty is survived by her husband of 44yrs Ron. One son Bill Christesen of Marquette, MI., One daughter Sally (Al) Hochstein of Milwaukee, WI., Many nieces and nephews including John (Lynn) Quillico of Appleton, WI., and special grandnephews Troy, Tyler and Trevor Quillico. Preceded by one sister, Marian Quillico. Visitation will be Tuesday July 22, 2003 from 4-7PM at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral Services will be 10AM Wednesday July 23, 2003 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Fr. Rayford Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. Pallbearers will be Bill Christesen,Troy, Trevor, Tyler and John Quillico, Al Hochstein.
