Obituary

Bertha Sylvia Rintala, age 93, a resident of the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011, at NorthStar Health System hospital, Iron River. She was born April 16, 1917, in Ramsay, daughter of the late Hjalmer and Jennie (Pinola) Lehto. On March 6, 1937, she was united in marriage to Werner Rintala by the Rev. Swante Luoma at the Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1976. Bertha grew up in the Ironwood area and attended schools in Iron County, Wisconsin. Following her marriage to Werner they lived in Ironwood for 16 years and returned to Crystal Falls in 1952. She was a member of United Lutheran Church. Survivors include one son, Roy (Roxanne) Rintala, Niagara, Wis.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Rintala on November 17, 1981, and a daughter Carole Jean Rintala in 2009. A private funeral service will be held at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Rev. Michael Laakko will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
