Bertha Lehto, 92, of Crystal Falls, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. She was born February 19, 1917, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Dworak) Makuck. On August 6, 1939, in Iron River she married Toisto Lehto. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1996. Bertha retired from the former Crystal Manor after 20 years in housekeeping services. Out of her home she did cake decorating and specialized in wedding cakes. She also enjoyed cross word puzzles and crocheting. Survivors include one son, Robert (Joyce) Lehto, Zion, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Donna Lehto, Crystal Falls; seven grandchildren, Jim Lehto Jr., Keith Lehto, Susanne Lehto, Clyde Jones, Kathy Johannson, James Jones, and Kimberly Jones, many great and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Ruth "Bootsie" Makuck, Crystal Falls. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, James Lehto on October 1, 2002, and nine siblings, Walter, Albert, Michael, Chester, John, Mary, Caroline, Josephine, and Sophie.
