Bertha Marie Callovi, 88, of Amasa, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009, at Northstar Health System, Iron River.
She was born August 1, 1921, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Frank and Marie Lahti. Bertha married Ernest Callovi on May 2, 1942, in Caspian, Mich. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1993.
Bertha worked at Angeli's Grocery Store, Iron River, retiring in 1982 and continued working part-time at Fob's Restaurant, Crystal Falls, until 2000. She was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph (Margaret) Callovi, Norway, Mich., David (Carol) Callovi, Iron River; two daughters, Geraldine Callovi, Saginaw, Mich., Paula (Rick) Jackson, Dunedin, Fla.; three grandsons, John Callovi, Dennis Callovi, Rick Jackson; other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Bertha was preceded in death by one son, Ernest Callovi, Jr., June 11, 2005.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 30, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Prayers will be offered Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls. Rev. Jeffrey Kurtz will officiate. Burial will be in Hematite Township Cemetery, Amasa.
