Benjamin Occhietti, 83, of Iron Mountain, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at ManorCare Health Services, Kingsford. He was born September 9, 1926, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Aurelio and Pia (Jafolla) Occhietti. Ben married the former Judith Wonders on February 17, 1968, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. Ben was a watchmaker by trade and along with his brother, Roland, owned and operated Occhietti's Jewelry in Iron Mountain for 52 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Judy Occhietti; one son, Daniel (Kristen) Occhietti, Gladstone, Mich.; one daughter, Valerie (Cory) Masuga, Cedarville, Mich.; four grandchildren, Brett, Tristan, Jarron Masuga, Addison Occhietti; one brother, Roland (Dorothy) Occhietti; two brothers-in-law, Peter (April) Wonders, Iron Mountain, Richard (Rita) Wonders, Bradenton, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Betty Occhietti, Iron Mountain; an uncle, Guido (Cecilia) Jafolla, Iron Mountain; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ben was preceded in death by a brother; Anthony Occhietti. Visitation will be Friday, July 2, 2010, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 2:00 p.m. at the church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate.
