Obituary

Beatrice M. Kurth, 101, of Crystal Falls, died Friday, December 23, 2005 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. She was born October 25, 1904 in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late John and Anna (Marita) Sepel. On June 30, 1936 she married Robert Kurth. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1969. Beatrice graduated from the Crystal Falls High School, Northern Michigan University at Marquette and attended Milwaukee Normal College, Milwaukee, Wis. She taught school in Vulcan before teaching in Channing for a total of 29 years. While in Channing she was a 4-H and Girl Scout leader. Bea was a member of the National Education Association, Michigan Education Association, American Association of Retired School Personnel, Channing American Legion Auxiliary, Channing-Sagola Senior Citizens Club and St. Rose Catholic Church. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia (David) Heafield, Shelby Township; two grandchildren, Holly (Michael) Sorensen, Mike Heafield; three great grandchildren, Jacob Banerjee, Chloe Sorensen, Calvin Sorensen, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Kurth, parents, granddaughter, Marianne Banerjee; four sisters, Mayme Wendelburg, Agnes Sepel, Evelyn Beck, Anne Kelly; and two brothers, Ben Sepel and John Sepel. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at St. Rose Catholic Church, Channing. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 12:00 Noon, at the church. Rev. Peter Fosu will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
