Barbara J. Kranz, 79, of Quinnesec, died Saturday, October 12, 2013, peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
She was born October 30, 1933, in Kingsford, Mich., daughter of the late Leo and Jeanette (Winning) Lange.
Barb was a lifelong resident of the area; she was a Graduate of Kingsford High School, Class of 1951. She married Gary Kranz on January 5, 1952, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingsford, Mich. In her younger years she worked for Michigan Bell Telephone, Co. as an operator.
She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, Iron Mountain, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and worked on the alter guild society. Barb was a former member of Our Redeemer Lutheran, Kingsford where she also taught Sunday school and worked on the alter guild.
Barb enjoyed many hobbies, which included, knitting, crocheting, painting and bird watching. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Gary; three sons, Fraser Kranz, Goodman Wis., Aaron (Brenda) Kranz, Breitung, Twp., and Kyle (Dawn) Kranz, Kingsford; four grandchildren, Gary (Dawn), Ashlee, John, and Jacob; two step grandchildren, Zachary and Logan.
In addition to her parents Barb was preceded in death by, one sister, Patricia Kleiber; two grandchildren Dana Kranz and Travis Kranz and one daughter-in- law, Cecilia Kranz.
In accordance with Barb's wishes private family visitation and services will be held. Rev. James Lindgren will officiate. Burial will be in Breitung Township Cemetery, Quinnesec.
