Barbara A. Edwards, 68, of Iron Mountain passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014, at her home. She was born May 29, 1946, in West Branch, Mich. daughter of the late Wilfred and Edith (Koller) Tousignant. Barbara grew up in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School, Class of 1964. She was an extremely hard worker, working many jobs over the years, including Michigan Bell Telephone, Khoury's Unfinished Furniture, Martin's Manufacturing and waitressing at many local establishments. After her children were raised she attended Bay College and was awarded her Registered Nursing Degree in 1992. Barbara worked at the Oscar G. Johnson Veteran's Hospital as an LPN for seven years. She then went to work for Dickinson County Healthcare System, as an RN for 16 years, retiring in 2010. Barbara was an active volunteer over the years at the Menominee Range Historical Museum, Habitat for Humanity Restore and was a grade school and high school volunteer. Barbara loved crocheting, reading, music, crafting and playing in the local women's pool and smear leagues. She is survived by her husband John; one son, Eric Edwards, Iron Mountain; one daughter, Roxanne (Doug) Summers, Iron Mountain and one grandson, Damian. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Angela Marie and two brothers, Thomas and Richard Tousignant. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. John Loewen and his staff for the exceptional personal care given during Barb's illness. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. A celebration of Barbara's life will be offered Thursday, 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain to honor Barbara's Legacy of Life.
