August Paul Karle, age 95, of Florence, Wis., passed away Friday, September 15, 2006, at his home.
He was born September 22, 1910, in Florence, son of the late John and Louise (Walch) Karle. He married Jean Poulin on April 30, 1937, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Florence. She preceded him in death on January 19, 2003.
August was a life long resident of Florence and a graduate of Florence High School. He operated a large dairy farm and was a logger most of his life. August also enjoyed landscaping and together with his wife, Jean, operated the dairy farm and raised three boys.
August and Jean traveled extensively throughout the USA, Canada, and overseas. He was a life-long member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Florence, was an avid hunter and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include, two sons, Thomas (Karen) Karle of Florence, James (Barbara) Karle of Kingsford, Mich.; two sisters, Anna DePotie of Caspian, Marie Rinko of Iron River; three sisters-in-law, Genevieve Mish of Waunakee, Wis., Marie Poulin of Kingsford, Vivian Karle of Florence; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Besides his parents, and his wife Jean, he was preceded in death by, a son, Robert Karle; two brothers, Rudolph and Alfred Karle; and a sister, Josephine Stewart.
Visitation is 9:00 - 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 18, 2006, at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home in Florence. Prayers will be recited at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Florence. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Commonwealth, Wis.
