Iron Mountain: Asta S. Rombin, age 98, died peacefully at the Hyland Nursing home, in Iron Mountain, on January 1, 2004. Asta was born to the late Severin and Tekla Johanson on Febuary 2 1905, in Gotborg, Sweden. She always wanted to come to America, and at the age of 16 she did, then as a young lady married Edwin Rombin, in Chicago, in 1928. While living in Chicago, she worked for the School Board of Education of Chicago. In 1969, they moved to Spread Eagle, Wi. She was a member of the First Covenent Church and the Rebekah Lodge, of Iron Mountain. She was and excellent cook and baker. She is survived by 3 nephews, Hasse, Sture, and Ingvar, and their families, one niece Sylvia, and her family. Asta was preceded in death by her husband Edwin in 1970, her parents and siblings, who all lived in Sweden. Funeral services will be held, 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 3rd, 2004, at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron Mountain, with Rev. Peter Erickson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 till time of service, at 11:00 AM.
