Iron Mountain- Ashley Thomas Jr., 66, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Dickinson County Healthcare Center, Iron Mountain, Mich. He was born April 3, 1955, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, son of the late Ashley Thomas Sr. and Mildred (Charles) Mitchell. Ashley graduated Pomona High School, Pomona, California, class of 1974. He married Gaye Salo on July 31, 1992. Ashley worked as a manager in retail for many years and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Ashley was such a people person, and family and friends meant the world to him. He was always the life of the party. Ashley will be missed by all those who crossed paths with him. Survivors include his wife, Gaye Thomas, Iron Mountain; one son, Ashley (Tatum) Thomas III, Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren, Amauri Thomas, Ta'lor Thomas, and Journey Thomas; extended family, Karen and Bill Kollmann; and many nieces, nephews. Ashley also leaves behind many good friends, too numerous to mention. In addition to his parents, Ashley was preceded in death by one brother, Marcus Thomas; one sister, Beverly Thomas; and one niece, Taneisha Newson.
