Obituary

Arthur E. Sparapani , 80, Niagara died Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital , Iron Mountain, with his wife Gina and cousin Noleen by his side. He was born August 16, 1932 in Iron Mountain, son of the late Arthur and Cecelia (Criel) Sparapani. Arthur grew up in Niagara and graduated from Niagara High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Air Force from September 1952 until being honorably discharged in September 1956. Arthur married Gina Buzzelli on April 27, 1968 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. After being married, they resided in Niagara. Arthur worked for the Niagara Paper Mill as a Pipe Fitter for over 41 years, retiring in 1993. He was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Niagara Sportsman's Club. Arthur enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great niece Maria as well as his many other great nieces and nephews. His kind and fun-loving spirit was enjoyed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Gina; one brother, Frank (Janis) Sparapani, Zephyrhills, Florida; two step-brothers, Duane (Carol) Oshesky, Washington State, Jerry (Val) Oshesky, Florida; two step-sisters, Wilda Tresider, Sturtevant, Wis.; Patsy (Bob) Schultz, New Ulm, Minn.; three nephews, Scott (June) Sparapani, Brian (Patti) Sparapani, Joseph Martorelli; three nieces, Lynn (Bruce) Schoenleber, Kelly Sparapani, Antonella Martorelli; numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins. Arthur was preceded in death by, an infant brother, Peter and his step-father, Edward Oshesky. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 11, 2013, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery. Cretton-Tutas American Legion Post #136 will accord military honors at graveside.
