Arthur (Butch) William Blake, age 61, of Aurora, Wisc., passed away Saturday, January 27, 2007, at the V.A. Medical Center in Madison, Wisc.
He was born August 30, 1945, in Loma Linda, Calif., son of the late Arthur Virgil and Retha Darlene (Cox) Blake. On July 1, 1989, he married the former Denise M. Schultz at Fumee Falls in Quinnesec, Mich.
Butch served his country in the Army as a tanker in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969, also serving in the 101st Airborne attached to the Calvary. He was a bronze star recipient. Butch was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter and American Legion Post 50 of Iron Mountain.
Butch is survived by his wife, Denise M. Blake, Aurora; three sons, Jon Blake, Atlanta, Ga., Rick (Vicki) Blake, Riverside, Calif., James Blake, Riverside, Calif.; one daughter, Andrea Blake, Manitowoc, Wisc.; two step-daughters, Tammy (Bill) Hawkins, Two Rivers, Wisc., Misty (Jim) Feiforek, Manitowoc, Wisc.; beloved grandchildren, twins Nehemiah Arthur and Lialah Rose Schwab, Manitowoc, Wisc., Todd and Crystal, Riverside, Calif.; step-grandchildren, Christopher, Alicia, and Amber, Two Rivers, Wisc., Hunter and Jonah, Manitowoc, Wisc.; two brothers, Bob (Cyndi) Blake and their children, Ronelle, Nicole, and April; Tommy Blake and his children, Chantel and Destiny; one sister, Racquel (Michael) Thompson and their children, Lezlie (Mike), Danette (Jim), Jason (Candi), and Stasha; three sisters-in-law, Jacqueline (Fred) Meunier, Alvina (Terry) Tomascewski, Judith Schultz; beloved inherited niece, Paula (Jamie) Dabb and their son, Butch's favorite fishing buddy, Dawson Dabb, Iron Mountain; many special adopted nieces and nephews, who Butch adored; and many, many special friends. He loved you all!
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jon Blake.
Butch had a love for laughter and life. He would entertain all of us gathered around the campfire by singing his favorite songs, "She's Got Freckles on Her Butt, She's Pretty." He enjoyed his favorite outdoor activities of fishing, hunting, and camping. He loved watching NASCAR, reading, and spending time with his dear friends, Tim Payette, Ron and Debbie Thompson, and Kelly Strehlow.
American Legion Uren-Cooper-Johnson Post 50 of Iron Mountain will offer a veteran's memorial service Wednesday, January 31, 2007, 1:45 pm at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A memorial service will be held in celebration of his life 2:00 pm, at the funeral home. Reverend Mike March will officiate.
Burial will be in the spring in Riverside, Calif.
She's got freckles on her butt, she's pretty. You always knew Butch was there when you heard, "YO!"
