Dr. Anthony J. Occhietti Sr., age 68 of Iron Mountain passed away suddenly on Friday, August 13, 2004 at his home. He was born July 29, 1936 in Iron Mountain son of the late Aurelio & Pia (Jafolla) Occhietti. Anthony graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1954 and Marquette University in 1961 with a Doctorate in Dentistry. He was a Lt. in the US Navy from 1961-63 in San Diego, CA. Anthony married the former Beatrice "Betty" Woodward on May 9, 1964 at Immaculate Conception Church. He practiced Dentistry in Iron Mountain from 1963 until his retirement in 2000. Anthony was a member of the Cloverland District of the Michigan Dental Association, American Dental Association, Kiwanis Club, Elks Lodge 700, Wildlife Unlimited, United Sportsman Club, Chippewa Club, and Pine Grove Country Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. Being with his family brought him great joy. Surviving is his wife Betty; children, Dr. Tony (Cindy) Occhietti, Maria (Jeff) DeMerse, Dr. Michael (Dr. Maria) Occhietti all of Iron Mountain; five grandchildren, Antoinette, Dominic, Nicholas, Mario, & Michael; brothers, Ben (Judy) and Roland (Dorothy) Occhietti of Iron Mountain; uncles, Guido (Cecilia) Jafolla and Joey Jafolla of Iron Mountain; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8:00 pm at Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with an Elks service at 7:00 pm and parish prayers at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 9:30 am at Jacobs Funeral Home with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Church. Fr. Dan Zaloga will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. The American Legion Post 50 will offer a full color guard at the graveside. A memorial will be established in Tony's memory.
