Annette I. Jarvi, 88, of Amasa, Mich., passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, Mich.
She was born May 20,1922, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late John and Sophie (Berglund) Mickelson. Annette graduated from Crystal Falls High School, Class of 1941. After graduation, Annette worked in Chicago for a short time before she married Arthur Jarvi on August 7,1943; he preceded her in death in 1969.
The family lived near Gibson Lake until 1959, when they moved to Ely, Minn. While in Ely, Annette attended Ely Junior College and transferred to the University of Minnesota, Duluth, from which she graduated with a Bachelor Degree in elementary education. Later she attained her Master Degree from Northern Michigan University, Marquette, Mich.
Annette was employed by West Iron County School and taught fourth grade in Bates, Mich., and Stambaugh, Mich., retiring in 1988.
Her interests included bird watching, sewing, reading, and traveling in both the United States and Europe. Annette was a member of the Sion Lutheran Church, Amasa.
Annette is survived by two daughters, Lorraine (Richard) Peitso, River Falls,Wis., Lynne (Dwight) Behrendt, New Lisbon,Wis.; one sister; Evelyn Larson, Negaunee, Mich.; three grandchildren; Sara (Brian) Jacklin, Jay Behrendt, Leah Peitso; one great-grandson; Casey Jacklin; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 27, 2010, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Sion Lutheran Church, Amasa. The funeral services will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Gary Markworth will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
