Our Beloved Anne went to meet her Lord on Tuesday, May 29, 2012.
She was born November 11, 1917, in Alpha, Mich., daughter of the late Silvio and Severina (Mottes) Rossi. Aunt Anne graduated from Alpha High School, Class of 1933. She worked part-time at the post office and bank, and then attended MSU and worked for General Motors. After the rise of WWII, Anne joined the Marine Corps. She was the first woman Marine from Michigan and obtained the rank of Sergeant in 1941 to 1943.
After being honorably discharged, Anne worked for the Conservation Department in Crystal Falls and Marquette, before working for the Michigan State Health Department and the Michigan State Police in Lansing as an Administrative Assistant. Anne chose to retire to take care of her nephew George "Dick" Browder. Soon, due to her sister's failing health, she took on the responsibility of caring for her sisters Mary and Margaret.
She was very musically talented, playing in the Alpha Aces Band and entertaining the family on the piano playing by ear. Anne also loved to dance. She always remembered holidays and birthdays for all her "little cherubs," nieces and nephews. Living for family was her mission, and she did it with all her heart.
Anne taught those she knew about life. She taught us that life is a blessing that we are all to live not just for ourselves, but also for others. The Beatitudes were her checklist for life, and she lived by them religiously as she allowed herself to be made into a true vessel of Christ by her Creator. Anne was a beautiful lady both inside and out. She always had a beautiful smile and was a class lady. She was a woman of strength, fortitude, and always had a quick wit that never failed to bring a laugh to the people that she met.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Althea "Scotti" Rossi; two nephews, Richard George "Dick" Browder, James Joseph (Adrienne) Rossi; four nieces, Marrianne Margaret (Daniel) Zelinski, Silvia Jeanne (George) Hronkin, Jolynn (Jim) Swenor, Pamela (Dennis) VanBuren; twenty grand-nieces and nephews, forty-four great-grand-nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Anne was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Josephine Anesi, Mary Veronica Browder; three brothers, Joseph Amedo, Francis "Frank", John "Bubs" Batista Rossi; one nephew, Patrick Rossi; and one niece, Sondra Rossi Bushroe.
The visitation will be held Friday, June 1, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls.
