Allan R. Krueger, 88, of Crystal Falls, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. He was born October 10, 1920, in Glenview, Ill., son of the late Alfred and Mildred (Long) Krueger. On October 2, 1948, in Glenview, he married Janet McKinzie. She survives. Allan joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1942, seving during World War II guarding the ore docks in Escanaba and the Chicago Locks and River in Chicago, Ill. Following his service he worked for AT&T as a switchman and retired as manager after 34 plus years of service. He has been retired for 27 years and was able to enjoy his home on Runkel Lake more and more each year since he and Janet bought it in 1975. Survivors include his wife, Janet Krueger; two sons, James (Joanne) Krueger, John (Mary Chambers) Krueger, all of Crystal Falls; grandchildren, Katherine Krueger, Jeni (Richard) Gustafson, Joanna Krueger, Jamie Krueger, Andrew Krueger, Peter Trotochaud; great-grandchild, Logan Gustafson; one sister, Sally Buchanan; other relatives, and friends.
