Alice F. Mross, 95, of Cambridge, Wis., formerly of Niagara, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 22, 2014, at the University of Wisconsin Madison Hospital, Madison, Wis. She was born March 20, 1919, in Niagara, daughter of the late Joseph and Alma (Barry) Van Hulla. Alice grew up in Niagara and graduated Valedictorian from Niagara High School, Class of 1937. She went on to attend and graduate from Miss Brown's Business College near downtown Milwaukee, Wis. Alice met John Mross while dancing at the Eagle's Ballroom in Milwaukee. During her eight years dating John, she traveled to Washington D.C. and worked for the War Production Board. This was the start of many enjoyable trips out west and down the coast to Long Beach for Alice, her sister Marie and friends. She later found work at Douglas Aircraft and International Harvester. Alice and John were married on May 21, 1949; he preceded her in death in 1996. She and John settled in Franklin, Wis. where they raised their three children. From the 1950's on, Alice was very active at St. James Parish working, teaching and volunteering her time and life to God. She liked sewing, reading, gardening and spending time with the family. She later moved to Niagara to be closer to many close and dear relatives. Alice always followed her Creator, tirelessly, no matter where she lived or travelled. God knew her and she knew God personally. Later, she had many years suffering with pain and her body could no longer keep up and her mind seemed to forget even the ones she loved. Alice never complained, always knowing where she was going to spend eternity. She is now enjoying a new and perfect body and thrilled to meet old friends who passed away before her. Alice has now met Jesus and there isn't a better ending to a long, wonderful life. We will all miss her dearly. She is survived by one son, Alan (Cindy Sullivan) Mross, Middleton, Wis.; two daughters, Linda Mross, Cambridge, Wis. and Nancy (Lyle) Rudolph, Cambridge; one sister, Marie Oja, Niagara; seven grandchildren, Sara Rose Bechtold (Dave), Joy Elizabeth Dubberstein (Chris), Chelsea Laurel Carlson (Pat), Rhanessa Alma Halvorsen (Rich), Elijah Joseph Rudolph, Joziah Samuel Rudolph and Anya Francesca Rudolph and seven great-grandchildren, Levi Bechtold, Mary Bechtold, Hannah Bechtold, Silas Bechtold, Caden Dubberstein, Heinrich Halvorsen and Haley Halvorsen. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lou, Norma and Teresa and three brothers, Joseph "Brud", Ken and infant brother, Roland. Visitation will be Saturday, August, 30, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Greenfield, Wis., Tuesday, September 2, 2014, 1:00 p.m. The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel to honor Alice's Legacy of Life.
