Albert R. Meress, Jr. 83, of Florence, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer, on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Golden Living Center, Florence.
He was born May 15, 1932, in Detroit, Mich. the only child of the late Albert and Irene (Dreary) Meress, Sr.
Al grew up in Detroit and graduated from Southeastern High School. He served in the United States Airforce, during the Korean-Vietnam War, from 1952, until being honorably discharged in 1956. Al worked for the U.S. Postal Service, as a Mail Carrier for many years. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by one Aunt, Liliane Dreary, St. Claire Shores, Mich. and numerous cousins.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, October 9, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Cemetery, Florence. The VFW Post No. 3635 of Florence will accord Military Honors at graveside. Pastoral Director Christine Gall will officiate.
A memorial will be established to St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence in Al's memory.
