Obituary

Albert "Pooch" Grailer, 73, of Kingsford, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Dickinson County Health Care System in Iron Mountain. Pooch was born November 16, 1937 in Kingsford, son of the late Louis and Verna (Walton) Grailer. He was a lifelong resident of Kingsford and attended school there. Pooch married Ursula "Urs" Winters on January 7, 1957 in Kingsford. Pooch worked for over 20 years as a glazer for T.C. Esser Company, Iron Mountain, until it closed. He then worked for Breitung Township Schools in the Maintenance Department for over 20 years, retiring in 1999. He also worked as traffic patrol and constable for Breitung Township, Dickinson County Sheriff's Department as deputy, he was Captain of the East Kingsford Fire Department and served on the Breitung Township Board as Trustee. Pooch loved his camp near Squaw Lake and could be found hunting, fishing and riding his four- wheeler in his spare time. He will be dearly missed by his family and all of his many friends. Pooch is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Urs; three sons, Steve (Sara Getchell) Grailer, Kingsford, Brian (Rose) Grailer, Kingsford, Jim (Jeannine) Grailer, Kingsford; one brother, William "Bill" (Shirley) Grailer, Kingsford; one sister, Teresa (Pete) Rossato, Kingsford; two sisters- in- law, Donna (Jim) Ray, Garden City, Mich., Susan Grailer, Kingsford; six grandchildren, Steven, Adam, Emily, Jaime, Jessica and Justin; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Ed Grailer and most recently Jerry "Dimps" Grailer. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 12, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 6:00p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home. Rev. James Danielson will officate.
