Alan Douglas Kananen, 67, a resident of the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, for the past year and formerly of Bruce Crossing, passed away Friday, July 22, 2011, at ICMCF. He was born December 23, 1943, in Detroit, son of the late Frederick and Esther (Larson) Kananen. Al owned Jarvis Bar and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his many good friends. Al is survived by one sister, Vera (Randy) Rentmeester, Bruce Crossing; one brother, Fred Kananen; one nephew, Ross Rentmeester; two nieces, Stacie and Stephanie Kananen; three step-children, Philip, Katie, and Farah Fors.
