Alpha: Aili D. Hohman age 87, of Alpha, Michigan passed away Saturday September 3, 2005 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls. Aili was born on June 10, 1918, in Alpha, Michigan, the daughter of the late Swante and Jennie (Ross) Toukkala. Aili grew up in Alpha, Michigan and graduated from Alpha High School in 1937. She married Nilo Lepisto in 1946 and he preceded her in 1946. She then married Irvin Hohman in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1979. Aili worked for twenty five years as a cook at the Alpha Senior Center retiring from there. She was an active member of the United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls and the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Crystal Falls. Aili enjoyed many hobbies including, cooking, shopping, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Survivors include, one son Dennis (Irma) Lepisto of Amasa, Michigan; one daughter Laverne Norman of Crystal Falls, Michigan; one sister Helen Jackson of Alpha, Michigan; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, one step great great granddaughter, many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husbands, Nilo Lepisto and Irvin Hohman, Aili was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Hohman in 1997, three brothers Toivo, Raymond and Eino Toukkala, one sister Shirley Kudwa and one son-in-law Clarence Norman. Visitation will be Thursday September 8, 2005, from 10-11:00a.m. at United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls. The V.F.W. Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service Thursday 10:45a.m. at the church. Funeral services will be Thursday 11:00a.m. at United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls. Pastor Michael Laakko will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls, Michigan.
