Agnes "Aggie" Dolores Kos, 87, of Quinnesec, Mich., passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods, Byron Center, Mich.
Agnes was born July 24, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Valenta) Lavrinec. She married Frank Kos on July 24, 1952, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1985. While living in Chicago, Agnes worked for Sears & Roebuck Company in the catalog department for over 30 years, retiring in 1987. In 2000 she moved to Kingsford.
Agnes enjoyed many hobbies including bowling, dancing, crafts, and attending TOPS. She lived a faith-filled life and always enjoyed praying the Rosary.
Agnes is survived by two daughters, Judy (Timothy) Link, Kentwood, Mich., Marilyn (Richard) Virta, Quinnesec; one sister, Emily Kocurek; six grandchildren, Daniel (Jessica) Verbos, Michael (Rose Gochenauer) Verbos, Diana (Michael) Peters, Julianne Verbos, Karen Virta, and Diana Link; three great-grandchildren, Ava Peters, Foster Hunter and Ava Hunter and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Frank, Agnes was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Lacko and Joseph Lavrinec; two sisters, Mary (Frank) Sladich and Virginia (Stanley) Cegielski; one brother-in-law, Stanley Kocurek and a special friend, James Reilly.
Visitation will be Friday, February 7, 2014, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Vigil prayers will be recited Friday, 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Prayers will also be offered Saturday, February 8, 2014, 8:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 8, 2014, 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Norway, Mich., Fr. Tim Ekaitis will officiate. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014, 1 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Ill.
