Obituary for Virginia Lee Tipps (Weaver)

Goodman- Virginia Lee “Hot Lips” Tipps, 98, of Goodman, WI, passed away Friday October 29, 2021, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, MI.

Virginia was born May 28, 1923 in Moville, Iowa, daughter of the late Ethel Evelyn Jacoway and Bernard Fain Weaver. She graduated from Leavenworth High School, Kansas and continued her education receiving her degree from Cushing Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. After seeing a poster that read: “Uncle Sam needs nurses!” she joined the Army. She proudly served in Japan and The Korean War where she was a M.A.S.H. Unit nurse. Her friends fondly know her as “Hot Lips”. After serving her country for 8 years she continued her trade as a nurse in numerous areas including the Panama Canal. She was united in marriage to Charlie Tipps in Hot Springs, Arkansas; he preceded her in death January 13, 2002. Virginia and Charlie traveled for many years in their RV meeting and making many friends. After many wonderful years on the Gulf Coast she decided to move to Wisconsin in 2016.

She was humble to be able to go on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

Virginia was a life member of the VFW Post #5699 and the Military Order of the Cootie (MOC) of Ocean Spring, MS and American Legion Post #50, Iron Mountain, MI., a 25-year member of the Elks, also, a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Ocean Springs, MS.

She is survived by numerous friends throughout the United States including Cheryl and Todd Kowalkowski, Goodman, WI.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich. The funeral services will be held Thursday, 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Military burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Armstrong Creek, Wis., following the service. A celebration of Life will be held at White House Bar, Goodman, WI from 2p.m. – 5p.m.
