Obituary for Theodore W. "Ted" Egge

Crystal Falls- Theodore “Ted” W. Egge, 80, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away peacefully on November 1, 2022.

He was born in Ashland, Wisc., on June 24, 1942, son of Theodore and Astrid Egge. Ted attended Ashland High School and then proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1963.

Ted was an over-the-road trucker for many years and eventually purchased his own business, Ted’s Service Center in Crystal Falls, Mich. He was a skilled mechanic that could fix just about anything. Ted was humorous, hardworking, and generous to a fault. Some of his favorite charities were Children’s Hospital and Disabled Veterans of America.

Ted was also very competitive with a penchant for speed. He won numerous trophies racing snowmobiles and stock cars.

He died the same way he lived. Courageously while surrounded by family and friends.

Ted is survived by his children; Theodore (Roxanne) Egge, Green Bay, Wisc., Michelle Egge, Green Bay, Wisc., and Shaneva Clouthier, Crystal Falls, Mich.; along with 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Barbara (Phil) Hartung, Brookfield, Wisc., Alyce (Ted) Pellus, Green Bay, Wisc., and Kim Schmit, Green Bay, Wisc.; many nieces, nephews, and special friends, Kate Krause, Daniel Briggs, and Beth Santi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Astrid Egge; one brother, Don (Bonnie) Egge; and two brothers-in-law, Phil Hartung and Ted Pellus.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls, Mich. The Eastside Veterans Council will provide military honors at the funeral home at 5:15 p.m. A celebration of life will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor DJ Rasner will officiate. Burial will take place Friday, November 11, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls, Mich.

The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to the Green Bay VA, the exceptional nursing staff at St. Vincent Hospital, and Unity Hospice for everything they do 24/7; these are ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
