Obituary for Sunny Joanne Neveu

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter Sunny (Joanne) Neveu. Heaven gained another angel on Saturday, June 26, 2021, when Sunny passed away at her family home.

Sunny was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on April 24, 1990, and spent half of her childhood growing up in Iron Mountain, Michigan. After high school, she attended cosmetology school and worked as a certified Cosmetologist. One of Sunny's greatest joys in life was the birth of her daughter, Summer Iris Neveu.

Sunny had many friends, and her love for life was infectious. She had an energy that stole the show. Sunny was a talented artist, singer, painter, and comedian. Many people remember her on stage singing karaoke on Friday night. Her life was a living example of loving people as they were and making others laugh with her witty and dark humor. Some things that describe Sunny include rainbows, glitter, the smell of paint, glitter hairspray, moons/stars/suns, body spray, colorful eyeshadow, kittens, mermaids, and sunflowers. Sunny worked incredibly hard to overcome the difficulties life gave her and demonstrated great strength and grace. She had a way of commenting on life events that were incredibly thoughtful, offensive, and hilarious all at once. Sunny will be missed by those who knew her.

Sunny was a very much adored and loved mother, daughter, and sister. She is survived by her daughter Summer, sister Emily, brother Jonathan, and father, Christopher.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Shelley Bowman.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021, 4 p.m., at New Hope Church, 614 Carpenter Avenue, Iron Mountain, MI 49801. A reception will follow in the church hall. Rev. Doug Trudell will officiate.
