Obituary for Sarah A. Lada (Willard)

Channing-Sarah A. Lada, age 95, of Channing, Mich., passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at ManorCare Nursing & Rehab, Kingsford, Mich.

She was born June 10, 1923, in Channing, Mich., daughter of the late Sidney and Olga (Miller) Willard. Sarah grew up in Channing and was a graduate of Channing High School. She married Raymond Lada on May 8, 1944 in Chicago, Ill. They settled in Chicago and raised their family. After retirement they moved back to the Sagola area in 1987. Raymond preceded Sarah in death in 1991.

She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and off-road racing. Sarah volunteered at the senior center, taught Sunday School in Chicago and was a member of the Ladies Guild. She had also served as the Grand Marshall of the Channing parade.

Survivors include two sons, Michael (Patricia) Lada, Chicago, Ill. and Brian (Silvia) Lada, Channing, Mich.; one daughter, Lynn Marks, Beverly Hills, Calif.; and one sister, Jeanette Lindeman, Channing, Mich.; four grandchildren, Ryan (Anna), Rachel (Dan), Kevin (Karly), and Carissa; two great-grandchildren, Lucy and Jack.

In addition to her parents, and husband Raymond, Sarah was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Evans, Blanche Berg, and one grandson Greg Lada.

A celebration of Sarah’s life will be announced in the future.
