Kingsford - Sammie M. Dinsmoore, 70, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born August 16, 1948, in Wayne, Mich., daughter of the late John and Eleanor (Corey) Dinsmoore. Sammie grew up in the Detroit, Mich. area. She went on to serve in the US Army in 1970 until her honorable discharge in 1973. Sammie moved back to the Detroit area for a brief period before moving to Grand Marais, where she resided until moving to Kingsford in 2000.
She enjoyed cooking, time spent in the kitchen, animals of all kinds, her dogs Cooper and Sadie and especially the time spent with her friends.
Sammie was a member of the Uren Cooper Johnson American Legion Post #50, Iron Mountain.
She was survived by her long-time significant other of 28 years, Brenda Morrison; one step daughter Beth Morrison, Newberry, Mich.; three brothers-in-law, Harold (Sandy) Osterhout, Newberry, Mich., Richard Osterhout, Curtis, Mich., and Ronnie (Ellie) Osterhout, Gould City, Mich.; one sister-in-law, Laura Bradley, Lake City, Mich.; many nieces and nephews; cousins Patsy and Linda Corey, Grand Marais and Mike Corey, Fife Lake, Mich. as well as her long-time friend Susie Brown, Garden City, Mich.; and special friend, Micci Anderson, Kingsford, Mich.
In addition to her parents, Sammie was preceded in death by one brother “Johnny” Dinsmoore.
In accordance with Sammie’s wishes, private family services were held.
