Iron Mountain-Ruth Jean (Borga) Weber, age 94, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Monday, June 17, 2019, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, Mich.

She was born April 17, 1925, in Ralph, Mich., daughter of the late William and Nan (Sparks) Borga. The family moved to Channing, Mich., in 1929 where Ruth graduated from Channing High School in 1943. She continued her education at the St. Lukes Cadet Nurse Corp. in Marquette, Mich., graduating in 1947 as a Registered Nurse.

Ruth was married to Walter Weber on November 22, 1947 and moved from Channing, Mich. to Iron Mountain. They were married for 56 years until Walter preceded her in death in 2003. Ruth worked as an RN at the Iron Mountain General Hospital for three years, DCH for eleven years and the Oscar G Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain for sixteen years. She served as president of the Dickinson County Nurses Association and director of the Michigan State Nurses Association (MSNA). She was on the board of directors for four years and served four years as president of the Dickinson Iron County Nurses Association. Ruth volunteered for twenty-one years for the American Cancer Society and was instrumental in establishing the Dickinson County Cancer Unit & Closet, where she served 16 years as president. She was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford, Mich.

Ruth was a very loving, kind and generous person who did whatever she could to help others in the spirit of true compassion. We are all deeply grateful to have had her in our lives.

I met Ruth only 3 years ago. I saw her usually about once a month and every time we said "hello" to each other I would immediatly smile from ear to ear. Ruth was filled with light that radiated from that smile she always had. I will miss that light and I will always think of her and smile. Rest peacefully Ruth
