Obituary for Ronald H. Van Doorne

Iron Mountain- Ronald H. Van Doorne, age 83, of Ralph, Mich., passed away Monday, August 26, 2019, at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans, Marquette, Mich.

He was born May 31, 1936, in Mt. Clemens, Mich., son of the late Maurice and Mary (Schuster) Van Doorne. Ronald attended Lawrence Technical College and proudly served in the United States Air Force. He worked as an engineer for TRW, retiring after 35 years of service. Ronald was a member of St. Rose Church in Channing.

He enjoyed photography, fishing, hunting, the outdoors, and especially loved the time spent with family and friends.

Survivors include his son, Terence (Janine) Van Doorne, Grove City, Penn.; two daughters, Rhonda Barefield, Harper Woods, Mich. and Katharine Corbit, Eastpointe, Mich.; one brother, Robert Van Doorne, Harrison Township, Mich.; former wife, Patricia Nasser-Van Doorne, Tyler, Tex.; sister-in-law, Prudence Van Doorne, Shelby Township, Mich.; grandchildren, Cynthia Leonards, Stephanie (Eric) Divito, Sarah Corbit, Jenae (Cole Harder) Van Doorne, Marisa (Derrick Brown) Van Doorne, and Terence Jacob “T.J.” Van Doorne; six great-grandchildren, Chloe, Addison, Angelina, Ace, Hadley, and Harper; and by longtime companion for 27 years, Lorraine Roemelen, Prudenville, Mich.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his one brother, Thomas Van Doorne; one sister, Veronica Guzinski; son-in-law David “Rick” Barefield; sister-in-law, Marilyn Van Doorne; and brother-in-law, Gerald Guzinski.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 30, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, Channing, Mich. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 11:30 a.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Dan Malone will officiate. Burial will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery, Ralph, Mich.
