Obituary for Roger C. Kerr

Iron Mountain-Roger C. Kerr, age 66, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at his home.

He was born October 15, 1952, in Sault Ste Marie, Mich., son of the late Kenneth and Margaret (Latham) Kerr. Roger was a graduate of Cedarville High School, Cedarville, Mich. He was fondly known as “Roger Roger” by everyone in town. He joined Construction & General Laborers Union Local 1329 in October of 1972 and retired in September of 2002. Roger was a proud and loyal Union Member, and it would be hard to find a Union Brother or Sister who didn't have a great story to tell about Roger or what a hard worker he was. He showed up every year for the annual Laborers party with the biggest smile and was always ready to have a good time.

You would often see Roger walking, that was his mode of transportation, and if you ran into him, you were greeted with a big smile and genuine joy to see you. He may not have had much, but he was always willing and ready to help someone if asked. Roger was a real icon of Iron Mountain and will be missed by so many in town.

Survivors include one son, Anthony (Elaine) Kerr, St. Ignace, Mich., two daughters, Michelle (James) Gill, Forest Hill, West Virginia and Krystle (LeRoy) Noller, Lower Michigan; two sisters, Connie Domski and Brenda Kerr; and by several grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Grace.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 7, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich.

A celebration of life for Roger will take place on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at Mayme’s Bar, 114 E. Brown St., Iron Mountain, Mich.
