Obituary for Robert Anthony "Tony" Newberry

Iron Mountain- Robert Anthony “Tony” Newberry of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away suddenly in Grand Junction, Colorado, on September 27, 2021, at the age of 62. He was born in Riverton, Wyoming, on April 25, 1959, to Robert and Marilee Newberry. Tony was raised in Idaho Springs, Colorado, excelling at football, basketball, and baseball for Clear Creek High School. He later attended Colorado State University, where he played football and baseball.

Tony married the love of his life, Jeanne (Crispigna) Newberry, on November 29, 1985, at the United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. They settled in Iron Mountain, where they were happily married for 35 years and raised four children. Tony had a passion for family, friends, cooking, sports (Broncos), and movies. Tony was employed locally by Grede foundries and MJ electric for many years. Despite spending countless hours on the road listening to Elvis, his number one priority was his family. Tony loved to cheer on his children at their many sporting events and was a big supporter of his wife's volleyball teams. Big T was known for his famous deep-fried turkeys, mashed potatoes, and his constant marathons…. of movies.

Tony is survived by his wife Jeanne; four children, Ryan Newberry, Samantha Layne (Brandon), Brittany Newberry (Kevin), Michaela Arves (Ben); four grandchildren Gianna, Aubrey, Gabriel, and Baby Killips; parents Robert “Bob” and Marilee Newberry; siblings Deb Manuel (Stan), Randy Newberry (Toni), Newberry and Crispigna families and many nieces and nephews.

Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Maude Newberry, Sim and Margaret Cingoranelli, in-laws Philly and Lona Crispigna, and brother-in-law, Robert Hosking.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 pm, at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich. Prayers will be recited on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., at the Jacobs Funeral Home. The Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain, Mich. Rev. Fr. Timothy Ekaitis will officiate.
