Obituary for Michael S. Crampton
Iron Mountain- Michael S. Crampton, 71, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Monday, August 9, 2021, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay, Wis.
He was born December 29, 1949, in Regensburg, Germany, son of the late Richard and Marilyn (Vogelei) Crampton. Mike grew up in Dearborn, Mich., and was a graduate of Grayling High School. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army as a Ranger until his honorable discharge. Mike married Laurel “Lali” Stende on August 25, 1985, in Bowie, Maryland. They resided in Maryland for 30 years, and he worked in the data architectural field where he was self-employed and contracted his services to many large corporations throughout the United States. Mike and Laurel moved to Iron Mountain in June of 2017.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting shells and Japanese Samurai memorabilia, and crafting knives. Mike will be missed by his family and many friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Lali; three sons, Clayton Crampton, Corolla, North Carolina, Christian Crampton, Waldorf, Maryland, and John Crampton, Nashville, Tennessee; three daughters, Erin (David Watson) Crampton, England, Elizabeth (Glen) Concepcion, Bowie, Maryland, and Sara (Evan) Williams of California; three grandchildren, Isabella, Caiden and Noah; three sisters, Sheri (Dimitri) Crampton, San Diego, California, Debbie Rudowski, Livonia, Michigan, and Susie (Ron) Slack, Franklin, Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In accordance with Mike’s wishes, private family services will be held.
