Kingsford – Marilyn D. Wood, 91, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Maryhill Manor Nursing Home, Niagara, Wis.
She was born on June 26, 1929, in Iron Mountain, Mich., daughter of the late Leo and Doris (Luppen) Duford. Marilyn was a life-long resident of Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School. She married Marvin Wood on November 8, 1947, in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death in 1994. Marilyn worked many years as a payroll clerk for Grede Foundry, Kingsford. She also worked at Monette’s IGA in the meat department and for many years as a laundry attendant at the Kingsford Laundromat.
She enjoyed baking and oil painting in her younger years and will be missed by her family and many friends.
Marilyn is survived by one son David (Lori Mueller) Wood, Fond Du Lac, Wis.; one daughter Lynn Wood, Kingsford, Mich.; two grandchildren Gail (Mike) Peterson, Eden, Wis., and Debby (Derek Moore) Koenig, Milwaukee, Wis.; four great-grandchildren Christopher, Calvin, Ally, and Dustin; one brother in law Joseph Groleau, Iron Mountain, Mich; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Marvin, Marilyn was preceded in death by one brother Lloyd (Ann) Duford; seven sisters-in-law Delores (John) Trulock, Joyce Groleau, Sharon (Gary) Freberg, Pat (Lyle) Wood, Helen (Larry) Marheine, Vivian (Floyd) Wood, and Patty (Clark) Wood.
In accordance with Marilyn’s wishes, private family services will be held. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain, Mich.
