Obituary for Marie F. Krans (Martin)

Marie F. Krans, 87, of Aurora, Wis., went to her eternal home on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at Christian Park Center, Escanaba, Mich.

She was born February 28, 1932, in Monmouth Beach, NJ, daughter of the late George and Ethel (Archer) Martin. Marie grew up in Long Branch and graduated from Long Branch High School. She married LeRoy “Bucky” Krans on April 24, 1954 in New Jersey. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1984. Marie helped manage her husband’s family farm along with raising six children. She took great pride in raising her family and was a cook at the Hillcrest School until she retired in 1996, and many still remember “Ms. Krans Lunches”. It did not stop at school, she was a wonderful cook at home as well, where many family members and friends frequented enjoying many meals along with tasty baked goods.

Marie enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, gardening, working outside, and especially the time spent with family and friends. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marie’s daily routine included her daily walk with cousins, Lorraine, Gayle and Marilynn which often included going for breakfast. Many will miss seeing her plant and water the cemetery, feeding her birds, riding her lawn mower and many other activities she did up until dementia won the battle. Marie will be sadly missed.

Survivors include one son, Thomas (Kathi) Krans, Aurora, Wis.; four daughters, Susan (Ray) DallaValle, Aurora, Wis., Patricia (Jeff) Borchardt, Homestead, Wis., Jane (Milt) Anderson, Escanaba, Mich., and Linda (Rick) Chrisman, Aurora, Wis.; one sister, Charlotte (John) Allen, Wrens, Georgia; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law, Roger (Rita) Krans, Commonwealth, Wis.; and one sister-in-law, Charlotte Waldschmidt, De Pere, Wis.

In addition to her parents and husband, LeRoy, Marie was preceded in death by one son, Gregory Krans in 2017; one brother, George Martin Jr.; and many other loved ones.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 8, 2019, 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be held Friday, 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. John Arvid Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in Aurora-Homestead Cemetery, Aurora, Wis.
