Obituary for Mae Arlene Lindstrom (Nylund)

Kingsford-Mae Arlene Lindstrom, age 84, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away Friday, September 28, 2018, at her home.

She was born May 8, 1934, in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Arthur and Taimi (Westerback) Nylund. Arlene grew up in Ironwood and graduated from Ironwood High School, Class of 1952. After graduation she worked in Grand Haven, Mich., where she met and married Ken Retzlaff. Together they had three children. In October of 1969, Arlene and Ken moved to Vulcan, Mich. While Ken worked at Lake Shore in Kingsford, Arlene received her nursing degree and worked for 20 years at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Mich. Ken preceded her in death on October 27, 1996. In 1999, Arlene married LeRoy Lindstrom and they spent 19 years in the winter at the Villages, Florida.

Arlene enjoyed golfing and dancing and especially the time she spent with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Lee; children, Kathy (Roger) Guye, Kingsford, Mich., Mike (Shanna) Retzlaff, Fruitport, Mich. and Scott (Sheryl)Retzlaff, Newport, Mich.; step-children, Kyle (Dawn) Lindstrom, Kingsford, Mich. and Pam (Jim) Liddell, Coffeyville, Kansas; four grandchildren, Emily, Brian, Kayla and Erick; one great-granddaughter, Lexi Retzlaff; one brother, Dan (Colleen) Nylund; and by three sisters, Myrna Magni, Jean Nylund and Lola Nylund.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Ken, Mae is preceded in death by one brother, John Nylund and one sister, Nora Nylund.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 1, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich. The Memorial Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Beckstrom will officiate. Burial will take place in Norway Township Cemetery at a later date.

Arlene would also like to thank Dr. Morel and his staff at DCH, Katie her Hospice Nurse and everyone at OSF Hospice Service.
