Obituary for Lola J. Zawada (Hayes)

Niagara: Lola J. Zawada, 89, of Niagara, Wisconsin passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara, Wisconsin. She was surrounded by her loved ones when she passed.
Lola was born on May 27, 1933, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, daughter of the late Edward and Lola (VanSickle) Hayes. Lola grew up in Kingsford, Michigan and graduated from Kingsford High School. She married Joseph H. Zawada on May 5, 1956, at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. They were married for 47 years before Joe preceded her in death on September 20, 2001.
A devoted wife and mother, Lola worked tirelessly by her husband’s side as the Company bookkeeper to help build their family business, J. H. Zawada Supply and Lumber Company, while also raising 6 children. When Lola had her first child, Tina, she decided to quit her job at the V. A. Medical Center and dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Lola excelled at motherhood and was the foundation of her family through and through. After raising her family, Lola returned to the V. A. Medical center for many more years, receiving numerous awards and recognition during her tenure.
Lola excelled at propping up family members and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties in their lives. She made it her mission to improving the lives of others. She was an excellent cook, with much family time spent gathered around the table enjoying her amazing meals. She was a generous gift giver, always knew the right thing to say, and never missed a special date. She was the families constant cheerleader and supporter. Lola was a passionate gardener, and when she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found tending to the beautiful gardens on their homestead. Lola truly lived life to the fullest, enjoyed simple pleasures, and most of all spending time with her family. May we all follow in her footprints in keeping faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ.
She is survived by five children Debbie (Brian) Wiegele, Joseph (Rhonda) Zawada II, Julie (Ken) Maes, Jane Zawada, and James Zawada; her siblings Joan Tinti, Dina Hayes, and Ginger Remiker; son-in-law Fred Neveau; twelve grandchildren Jennifer (Don) Lofholm, Nicole (Abe) Alexander, Jeremy (Jessica) Zawada, Joseph Zawada III, Jordan Zawada, Derrick Carollo, Courtney (Eric) Johnson, Lola Dahlgren, Douglas Maes, Stephanie Maes, Austin Blomquist and Jared Johnson; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Lola (VanSickle) Hayes; husband Joseph Zawada I, daughter Tina (Zawada) Neveau; four siblings Edward Hayes II, George Hayes, and twins Patrick and Michael Hayes; and grandchild Christopher Carollo.
Forever in our hearts – Always by our side.
