Obituary for Lois Luella Floodstrand

Lois Luella Floodstrand, age 95, of Appleton, passed away at Eagle Court Memory Care on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

She was born to the late George and Edith (Anderson) Floodstrand on November 1, 1927, in Crystal Falls, Michigan. She graduated from Forrest Park High School in Crystal Falls, Michigan, in 1945. Lois obtained her bachelor’s in nursing from Northern Michigan University and her master’s degree from Wayne State University. She worked many years as a professor and head of the nursing program at Henry Ford Community College in Detroit, Michigan. Lois moved to Appleton in 2008 to live with her brother Ken. While in Appleton, she joined Saint Matthews Lutheran Church. Lois enjoyed researching her family history and genealogy. She loved chocolate and flowers. Lois was a wonderful nurse and took care of her family when in need. She helped mold and sculpt many generations of nurses through her work as a professor. Lois loved to travel abroad, often visiting her sister’s family when they lived overseas. She was very charitable, often donating to Detroit Rescue Mission and Salvation Army, which were her favorite.

Lois is survived by her sister-in-law Utimia Floodstrand of Little Rock, Arkansas; nieces and nephews: Thomas (Cynthia) Floodstrand of Appleton, Carol (Kenneth) Hartman of Appleton, Laila (Jurmon) Harris of Little Rock, Arkansas, Daniel Jarvis of Marquette, Michigan, Benjamin Jarvis of Damascus, Maryland, Timothy Jarvis of Lancaster, Ohio, and Lisa (Don) Lehman of Queensbury, New York; and many great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Lila Floodstrand nee Huhta; brothers, George K (Geraldine Schreiber) Floodstrand and Fred Floodstrand; sister, Mary Jo Jarvis; nephew, William Floodstrand, and favorite brother-in-law, Jerry Jarvis

A Memorial Service for Lois will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls, Mich., with Pastor D J Rasner officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Church. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Park, Crystal Falls, Mich.
