Crystal Falls-Laura I. Jenkins, age 55, of Iron River, Mich., passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at her home.

She was born July 31, 1963, in Winnebago County, Illinois, daughter of the late Gilbert and Marjorie (Dunning) Wierschke. Laura grew up in Amasa, Mich. and graduated from Forest Park High School, Crystal Falls. She went onto attend Northern Michigan University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Laura worked as a nester for 12 years at Connor AGA Flooring Company and for the past year and a half as a Youth Officer for Iron County. She was united in marriage to Alan Jenkins on September 17, 2003 at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Iron River, Mich.

Laura enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and especially the time spent with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Alan; two sons, Nate Nelund, Ironwood, Mich., and Brent Jenkins, United States Navy; two daughters, Michelle Nelund, Stambaugh, Mich., and Tara Jenkins, Caspian, Mich.; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Quinn and Dominic; two sisters, Sally Six, Washington State and Berdina Harrison, Iron Mountain, Mich.; three brothers, G

A celebration of Laura’s life will take place on Sunday, November 4, 2018, from 2:00 pm. until 4:00 p.m. at Camp Sagola.
